2007 Update
It's been a phenomenal length of time since we last updated this website, not due to laziness but due to the fact that we have been locked out from our own FTP server for so long. Its high time we updated this website and its something we will prioritise in the coming months or so. We've been very busy in the time we've been away from the public eye. All summer, Howard and myself have been writing the fourth Hatred Hurt Itself record, 'No Majic Left in the World.' As much as there is a lot to do and the concept of this record has yet to be fully concieved, it is definitely our strongest work to date. This is due mainly to the fact that we've learn't more about the technological processes involved, developed as musicians in our various areas and improved our communications as we work. Our partnerships occasionally feel like marriages these days! Its been eight years since this project started and I don't know where I'd be without it.

The new tracklisting for 'No Majic Left in the World' is as follows:

A Dead Man's Religion
Porcelain Tiles, Blue Strip Lights and Naked People
Let the Good People Dominate
Antieverything Unincorporated
I Don't Cast Shadows
[hell]p
Death Will Free You From This Pathetic Form
The Rotten Teeth in the Smile of Material Pursuits
The Feeling You Get When You Start to Loose It
_phalanx
Godless, Violent and Free
XII XXIX (You Were Right About Everything)
No Majic Left in the World
How Beautiful the End of the World Will Be

The White Space Method Music Video
The video for the song "The White Space Method" is now complete although I haven't seen the work myself just yet and we have already run up against complications with certain people in distributing it across the web due to footage contained in the video itself. At this stage, we are looking at a commercial edit for the web as I can currently see no other way for you all to check it out without getting into trouble. Aside from this, we've had some great fun making it. Howie has had some great ideas with the work and it will be on display in the Worcester Tech art college in England from next week along with a typography project based on the Thinker project. Funnily enough, the unedited version of the music video will appear at this show so if you're close by, take this opportunity to check it out. Thanks again to Howie for his hard work.

The Future of Hatred Hurt Itself
As you may or may not be aware, the setup we currently have here at Hatred Hurt Itself is to change drastically this year. With a series of let downs from individuals since January, we have unsuccessfully managed to get this project to a live stage. Additionally, this is unlikely to happen in the year as Stuart lives in Cambridge, Howie is moving north to Birmingham to study Graphic Design for three years and I will be heading out to the States at the end of the year. Rich is the only guy staying put at the moment. This is not an announcement to say this project is over in any respect. I will be taking the project with me and exploring further the Hatred Hurt Itself sound at a later date. We've all needed to take time out to sort out careers, education, our personal lives and so forth as Thinker has taken a good chunk of the past three years to make and we've got to make up for that. For now, we have the remix project for you all which is ongoing and who knows, a fourth album could be on the cards as early as next year as and when I feel the dust has settled enough.
Regards, Tristan May 2006

The First Remix of Many...
Somerset (UK) based outfit Allicorn was the first to return a remix of "What It Is To Breathe Smoke" for us. The standard has been set extremely high to start with. We would like to thank Allicorn for such an amazing job. He's really taken the song in a different direction and stayed true to its origin. We hope this standard continues through. We have other acts currently working on remixes such as US industrial act Seraph who appeared on our special edition bonus disc and Brandi Winks. More to follow. HHI is also working on a more industrial version of What It Is To Breathe Smoke entitled "Krakatoa Head Mix"

To hear Allicorn's remix and to go and give this thing a shot for yourself, go to our Downloads section under 'remixes' and 'downloads'.

Thinker Remix Elements Available for Downloading
Individual elements for "What It Is To Breathe Smoke" and "The White Space Method" are now available for download from our Downloads section as compressed .rar files. We have exported the samples exactly as they appear on the album (this includes their levels, effects and automations). Additionally, each sample runs the length of the track, the idea being you don't need to line up the samples yourself after you get hold of them. Simply import the high quality .mp3's into your music editing package and put them one underneath the other and they should line up perfectly. We wish you all the best of luck with your remixes. The sky is the limit and we would like you to be as innovative as you can. Please remember that all individual files are copyright of Hatred Hurt Itself and all our rights apply. We are happy to let people use our material for their own shows so long as they ask our permission before doing so to avoid legal complications. We will by all means post your remix on the website if you so wish. This type of project tends to bring musicians together and its a great way to collaborate, make friends and contacts and get involved with other musicians and so we actively encourage such activities.

Thinker Tracks for Remixing
We have once again opened the doors this month to a new remix project with the release of What It Is To Breathe Smoke and The White Space Method. The US industrial band Seraph has requested to work on Acid in My Eyes and Ears and we are open to other special requests if you have some very definite ideas about what you want to do. Files can be accessed on request. We have no plans to release the outcome of this work commercially at the moment. We'll treat it as an open ended project and see what kind of animal it develops into...

Video Downloads #1
During the course of writing Thinker, we took it upon ourselves to film parts of the creative process where we could. I decided to do this because I wanted to document and remember the certain decisions that were made along the way, not just to look back on but to identify all the mistakes we made. The first of our video downloads has just been released on our Downloads section. This video captures what it was like behind the scenes and dispels the myth of the glamourous side of making a record (much of it was laborious and stressful). This documentary also shows the band as we are in life. I've avoided projecting us in any particular light. This is simply four english guys with similar ideas, some musical instruments, a couple of computers and group objective. To download the first video in this series, click here...

Hatred Hurt Itself : Live Update
Hatred Hurt Itself has now officially begun assembling its live act. As the band are just starting out in this arena with a new line up, we are currently avoiding the more dynamic tracks such as "The Unaccomplishers" and "Furiosa" until I feel the band is ready to take on those challenges as a collective in a live environment. The following tracks are currently scheduled for live performances...

What It Is To Breathe Smoke
Me and My Machine
The White Space Method
Thinker
Loather
From the Makers Of
Falling
Acid in My Eyes and Ears
Pretty Thing
There Be Dragons...

We may also look at the B-Side Coloured Little Pictures as an option as it would be nice to return to the dark old days between iDamager and Thinker. All tracks are being altered to make them rougher around the edges. We're doing our best to avoid a squeaky clean Linkin' Park style set and taking all our tracks on a bit of a exploration into its harsher sides. On some of the tracks that were covered by our American friends on the special edition versions of Thinker, we have taken influence in their work and this will be adding an additional dimension to our shows.

Brand New Updates
Brand new updates are now available from this website. You can download selected tracks from Hatred Hurt Itself's 2003 "iDamager" record and the entire 2002 album, "In Hell..." as it was never released commercially. Simply go to our Downloads section, right click and save as. Additionally, we have posted another two songs from Thinker and two songs from the Thinker Remixes and Covers disc on our myspace website and http://www.myspace.com/hatredhurtitself.

The White Space Method Music Video
Work will soon begin on our first music video for the track "The White Space Method." The concept and direction will be done by our very own guitarist, Howard Barker as a final submission for his art course. The concept for this video is at its early stages but expect a film noir in a downloadable form on this website in the near future. This will be the first music video Hatred Hurt Itself has done and we're all pretty excited about its production. We'll update you all as and when this occurs...

Hatred Hurt Itself : Live
Although slow in developing, we are endeavouring to start doing certain Hatred Hurt Itself tracks from all three albums in a live environment. It comes as no surprise that the process of getting HHI to the stage has been as difficult as getting Thinker out into the world. Nothing seems to come easy but the rewards are far greater when things flow as we intend them to. More announcements will come soon on here and on our myspace account.

Musicians Required
Hatred Hurt Itself is currently on the prowl for a bassist and a drummer. We have advertised in Worcester and Malvern here in the UK but so far with little interest. If you think you've got what it takes, love industrial music, are reliable and can turn up for practices on time, then contact me personally at tristanmay@hotmail.com. The sooner we get started, the sooner we can blow people away with this material - Tristan May

Silent Narcotic Remixes
Whilst Thinker is being finalised, I have found myself wasting time around the house and so put myself to work on a few remixes for Silent Narcotic. It is unclear where these two versions will eventually end up but we'll keep you all posted on all developments - Tristan May

Thinker in its Final Stages
On October 27th, we successfully finished all of the vocals and music for the new record, Thinker. The tracks have now been dispatched to Norwich in East England for final mixing and production by Stuart Jolley. We anticipate a December release for Thinker as we are a little behind our previous deadline of November 7th due to all manner of unforeseen circumstances. Most of the artwork has been completed and we are looking forward to the distribute of this music across the globe.

'Dead Inside Without You' Under Review
The Thinker track 'Dead Inside Without You' is currently under review and we are not sure if the song will make the final playlist just yet. It is in its eighth incarnation and we are looking at a complete overhaul to keep the flow of the album. We are an anticipating a filmed acoustic set of the track with good friend, Dave Crawford on vocals. Dave also wrote the lyrics for the song. If the song doesn't make the record, it will almost certainly appear as a B-Side at a later date. Another track which may appear as a B-Side is the song 'The School of Hard Knocks' which was dropped earlier in the year.
